In my opinion Tom Paterson is the greatest business visionary of the 20th century you've never heard of, and you should hear of him. Although not widely known, his processes have influenced many of the things you use on a daily basis. His LifePlan process changed the trajectory of my life in a significant way. I became certified in the process because of the impact it had on me. In my opinion the LifePlan process can do the same for yours.
Tom Paterson created the Paterson Process in the 70's. His method of of creating a strategic operating plan for an organization in several days (StratOp) radically altered the landscape of strategic planning. It threw out the costly and cumbersome traditional method of external consultants and significant cost. In its place a skilled facilitator guides the core executive team to write their own plan, based on the knowledge and wisdom of the team. As a result the core executive team OWNS the plan - after all, they wrote it!
Tom highly valued the behavioral component of the organization, and highly valued the contributions of each member of the team. His mantra - "manage the whole" means the whole of the organization, including the team members.
Tom's LifePlan process came out of his StratOp process. He was asked by his clients if he could do for them in their personal lives what he did in their businesses. LifePlan uses the same principles as StratOp.
Both processes are quick to identify major patterns and themes, quick to identify the heart of the issue, and effective to implement. Both processes are also INTENSE!
I am certified in both LifePlan and StratOp. I am honored and fortunate to be one of a small group of individuals who are certified in this process - The Paterson Process
