Tom is a visionary genius, skilled behaviorist, and master facilitator. He radically altered the landscape of strategic planning in the 1970's with his strategic process. His method of of creating a strategic operating plan for an organization threw out the costly and cumbersome traditional method of external consultants and significant cost. In its place a skilled facilitator guides the core executive team to write their own plan, based on the knowledge and wisdom of the team. As a result the core executive team OWNS the plan - after all, they wrote it!
Tom highly valued the behavioral component of the organization, and highly valued the contributions of each member of the team. His mantra - "manage the whole" means the whole of the organization, including the team members.
